Good News to start my Friday with! My foot is not broken!
Those are actual x-rays of my foot taken last night. I’ve been having some decent pain when walking / stretching my left foot. About seven miles into the half-marathon it started getting really painful. Naturally I pushed through it and finished the race, which has made it incredibly sore since Sunday.
I wanted to rule out the worst case scenario of a broken metatarsal, or bone spurs so I went and got it checked out. After a pretty short diagnosis, they prescribed some anti-inflammatories and sent me on my way with a referral-in-hand to a podiatrist. Screw that. Some how I’m not interested in some old guy saying I should stop running because it is bad for me. Pessimistic? Yep.
Anyways, I wanted to ask a question to all of you life-long runners out there. I have a sneaking suspicion that the culprit of my pain is plantar fasicitis, as it hurts a ton when I first wake up and take a few steps. Is there any stretching or icing tips that you guys may have that you swear by? I’m looking to get moving again asap!
