Did you know that 500 is divisible by the sum of its digits? This is known as a Harshad number. Did you know that 500 is also the code for an HTTP internal server error, which has been seen many times when creating this blog? On top of both of these fun facts, 500 is also used to describe the break-even point for wins and losses . . . which our beloved Buffalo Bills reached yesterday with a six-second-left-come-from-behind victory.
It is also the number of posts this blog has reached.
I saw a few weeks ago that we were going to reach this milestone soon and I wasn’t quite sure what to do about it. Over the past couple of years (the blog’s two-year anniversary is at the end of the month), this blog’s purpose has really changed quite dramatically. Many personal successes have been had, and many ramblings have been shared. I don’t even know how to begin to summarize all of those posts into one summation, other than simply “Wow.”
Generally speaking, I think this blog has been a success. I am encouraged and filled with a sense of pride each and every time someone texts me about a new accomplishment they hit or to let me know about an upcoming race they want to do. It has opened the doors to many new friendships, and it has also allowed me to express what is on my mind in a way I typically fail to do when speaking. In other words, it’s worked for me.
The most important lesson learned over the last 500 posts, if I had to pick one, is that fitness and weight loss/weight management are ongoing
struggles journeys that don’t really have resolutions. They take time. There is nothing easy about them. They truly are lifestyle choices and commitments. There is no exit-strategy when you hit your goals, as there is always something new to strive for . . . and I love that. I am fully committed to never going back to where I was a couple of years ago, never again falling prey to my own inner-Blerch.
I’m excited to push forward through the next 500 posts, and I hope you all will continue to join me and help me get this thing done right. Thanks for reading. Srsly.
