Like most of the North East, Buffalo has been experiencing some of the best December weather on record. It was hard not to capitalize on the 60 degree weather, so for the first time in a couple of months, Ellie and I laced up and went for a run outside.
We opted to deviate from our typical Elmwood to Delaware loop in favor of some quality time in Delaware Park. We ran around Hoyt Lake, which is usually fairly close to frozen this time year. Part of me sort of wishes that it was Frozen, as the idea of playing pond hockey is definitely in the back of my mind, but I know I would be stoned to death if I asked for colder weather.
In general we had a fairly good run. We had a sub ten-minute mile which was good, especially considering Ellie and I are both still coming off a pretty serious flu, and she is on antibioitics for Bronchitis . . . so I’ll take it! I have to admit, it did feel like an elephant was sitting on my chest though.
I am excited to start ramping up our running schedule again, and hopefully our weight-training will start to pay some noticeable dividends in terms of speed and recovery time!
